It has something of another era about it yet contains all of the required conveniences of a pharmacy, doctors, small museum, caravan park, hairdressers, hotel, fruit and vegetable shop, second-hand shops, fish and chip shop, cafes/restaurants and a small supermarket.

And yet with all of this, Evans Head is really like a precious gem set amidst spectacular Australian beaches and protected bushlands.

The uniqueness of Evans Head lies in the fact that it is still quite small and set amongst some of the most scenic and naturally diverse and accessible places on the East Coast of Australia.

The presence of extensive Aboriginal middens and campsites is an important reminder to the richness and diversity of the Bundjalung tribe who were the first inhabitants.

Bundjalung National Park offers a walking trail not far from town and both Bundjalung and Broadwater National Parks offer bushwalking trails. You can enjoy the natural beauty of the Australian bush, its wild flowers, birds and the occasional sitings of echidna, kangaroos, Koalas or even a Tawny Frogmouth.

There are first class boat launching facilities too and the area boasts a reputation for excellent fishing in the estuaries and pockets along the coast.
